This audit supports schools to strengthen systematic synthetic phonics (SSP) and early reading. A Literacy Specialist will work with leaders to review teaching, assess strengths, and identify priorities through learning walks, self-evaluation, and a co-created action plan, with follow up support days later on in the year.
The Reading Framework states: “The teaching of phonics is the prime approach to decoding.”
Eligible schools may access up to £6,000 funding for decodable books, training, and SSP-aligned resources.
